The Cincinnati Dancing Pigs

The Cincinnati Dancing Pigs

This band began about 1967, in the context of the Queen City Balladeers, a folk music club which continues to present a weekly coffeehouse and a series of outdoor concerts in Eden Park.

The Cincinnati Dancing Pigs’ regular bi-monthly gig is at Arnold's in downtown Cincinnati. They have performed in every Jug Band Jubilee in Louisville since the inception of the festival, and were inducted into the Jug Band Hall of Fame in 2014.

Dance and Dine with Ye Syncopated Swine

The Cincinnati Dancing Pigs formed in the late ’60s around the Folk revival/Queen City Balladeers scene in Cincy. Along with various other dates around the area, the band has performed its incredibly charming brand of old-timey Americana once a month at Arnold’s for more than 30 years.

The Pigs lineup features Ed Horning on banjo ukulele, Colt Wilson on guitar and jug, Neil Eckstein on guitar, Neil’s dad on washboard, and Peg Delaney on upright bass. Some of them play kazoos (and you’ll be glad they do)

“Along with their solid chops and dedication to the purity and preservation of pioneering American musical formats, a huge part of The Cincinnati Dancing Pigs’ appeal is the sense of fun and humor that oozes from their music..”

Press

“It’s hard to be in a bad mood after listening to Goin’ to Cincinnati (unless kazoos and songs about beans somehow make you irrationally furious)”

CityBeat Magazine

“The Cincinnati Dancing Pigs are Cincinnati’s premier Jug Band. They have been around since the early years of the Rolling Stones, have lasted longer than the Beatles and have more living members than the Grateful Dead.”
